Dave Herbert secured a vital 4-2 win for Chichester City in their SCFL Premier Division clash with Loxwood. Miles Rutherford’s squad are on a good run, having gone six games unbeaten away from home.

Additional goals came from Chi’s September player of the month, Scott Jones, along with Dan Hegarty and Josh Clack.

This big win for the Oaklands Park outfit sees them pile on the pressure on leaders Haywards Heath. Chi will look to build on this win with another victory when they face Newhaven on Saturday.

Prolific goal-scorer Jones opened the scoring for Chi, with his 15th in all competitions, in the first minute. After a few more chances at each end, Hegarty added to City’s lead with a fine effort.

Loxwood still threatened before the half with a shot striking the crossbar. Following the restart, Loxwood got a goal back through an Ant Ender own goal.

Clack extended Chichester’s lead with a fine effort rocketing into the top corner. Then Loxwood made it an interesting final five minutes when they got a goal back.

Herbert denied the home side a share of the spoils with a low driven shot into the bottom corner and the three points went to Rutherford’s side.
