Former pupils at Chichester High School for Boys are preparing to celebrate its 90th anniversary with a reunion day.

The Old Cicestrians, the school’s alumni association who are working with the support of Chichester High School, are keen to hear from all former students and staff in the hope that as many as possible will attend the event.

Organisers are keen for people to get in touch and relay memories and reminiscences that might be able be included in the presentation.

Dr Bill Allen, who is chairman of the Old Cicestrians, said: “We want people to tell us about former students who have achieved something special.

“Perhaps Tim Peake the astronaut is the former student most in the public eye, but many others have achieved great things and made an impact at international, national and local levels — we want to hear about it! Also if anyone has memorabilia or photographs they could lend or allow to be copied please get in touch.”

Committee member Clive Sayer said: “We are really keen to encourage those who went to the school in the 90s, 00s and recently to attend as well as older ex-students from 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.”

The event will begin with a fascinating audio visual talk tracing the history of the school, its students and staff through its nine decades. There will be displays of photographs and memorabilia through the ages, a celebration of the achievements of past students and tours of the present school.

A buffet lunch will be provided with hot and cold drinks available throughout and plenty of opportunities to catch up with old friends and note how time has moved on since their first day in a green blazer!

After lunch there will be a visit to the award-winning Chichester Planetarium (which is on the school site) with a talk about the planetarium and Tim Peake by Dr John Mason, the education officer and trustee, who himself attended CHSB, where his interest in space was sparked.

To register your interest email CHSB90@oldcicestrians.co.uk — or contact Alan Green at 10 Stockbridge Road, Chichester PO19 8DP. Tel 01243 784915.
