Students from Chichester College were treated to a number of educational sessions courtesy of catering company Aramark.

The hospitality and catering corporation delivered its fifth annual enterprise day at the college in which they led sessions in a variety of different areas ranging from business leadership to employability.

As well as participating in various business focused sessions, chefs from the company also worked closely with catering students preparing lunch for the day.

If the students can gain knowledge in numerous areas it could increase their chances of employment, says the college’s Julia Williams.

She explained: “We want our students to be able to move on to employment in their field once they leave us, and having executives from Aramark come to work with our students through our enterprise day is an opportunity for them to learn from people who are at the top of their career.

“They learn about what it can mean to run a company, manage a restaurant as well as learn some vital tips to help them get ahead of the game for ensuring their CV’s are at the top of the pile when they apply for jobs.”

Aramark are currently in possession of the college’s catering contract; this means they oversee Costa and Subway, as well as other food and drink facilities, at both the Chichester and Brinsbury campuses.

This opportunity aims to give students a look into how an industry is run, which is important for developing their skills for particular areas, says Aramark’s Chris Pepin.

He explained: “It’s really great for us to have the opportunity to give the students an insight into our industry and the diverse skill sets required in our sector.

“We were thrilled to be able to assist with developing the students’ talent and potential careers. The students on the day were fantastic, I hope we made it a great day for them as I know the Aramark team had such a rewarding day.”
