Six of the best! Snowdrop Trust the winner as Chichester News beat McDonald’s in charity match

McDondalds Versus Chichester News

Charity was victorious thanks to the Chichester News and McDonald’s six-a-side football teams following an entertaining match at Chichester College, which the former won 6-1.

But the real winner was Snowdrop Trust, a unique charity providing nursing care at home for children who have a life-threatening illness or who may be terminally ill.

That’s because Ryan Ewen, CEO of Falbros Media Group (The digital arm of Falbros LTD) who owns the Chichester News, has pledged to donate £100 to the charity following the triumph on behalf of Game Set & Match who provided the kit.

It follows an inaugural charity match against Nuffield Health which boosted the funds of St Wilfrid’s Hospice by the same amount.

Ryan said: “Snowdrop does such amazing work in our community so we are happy to donate to them. They always need funds and are a very deserving charity.

“These games take quite a bit of organising and it was amazing that McDonald’s put a team together – they did really well.

Game Set Match

“A big thank you to city sports shop Game, Set & Match (GSM) for doing the kit which took things to another level. It is a great example of the community pulling together to make a difference.

“The quality of the kit was amazing and the fact they took control and made it happen was great. They excelled with professionalism and customer care.”

Snowdrop Trust was suggested as beneficiary by GSM. Director Ben Barnes said: “The Snowdrop Trust is a great charity that we support so to make a donation to them is great.”

On the pitch the goals were shared around, with Chichester News hitting the net through a brace each for Ryan and Luke Rose, while Alex Ewen chipped in with a strike, and Jim Harding scored from the spot after being upended on a mazy run. The influential Josh Burford and not-so-influential Carl Eldridge made up the team.

McDonald’s, who scored through Cameron Warne, made their opponents work hard for the win. Ryan added: “I thought they did well, they had some talented players. But we had age and experience on our side as well as youthful exuberance with Josh and Luke and we’re happy with the victory.”
