Bestselling authors Peter Robinson and Timothy Knapman heading for Festival of Chichester

Bestselling authors such as Peter Robinson and Timothy Knapman will be at Chichester Library as part of this summer’s Festival of Chichester.

The library will host a month-long programme of events for budding writers, history fans, families and children from 17 June to 15 July.

Kicking off this year’s events includes a talk exploring the historical role of dogs in society on the evening of Tuesday 20 June (7.30pm).

The library and Chichester Cathedral have also teamed up to welcome worldwide renowned crime author Mr Robinson on Wednesday 12 July (6.30pm). He will be marking the 30th anniversary of his DCI Banks series as well as discussing his latest novel.

Towards the end of June, Chichester Community Theatre will be treating visitors to pop-up performances of the late Graham Greene’s play, ‘Yes or No’.

Children and families should look out for picture book author Mr Knapman’s morning storytelling session on Saturday 15 July (11am-12pm).

Plus, admire the work of local artist Dianne Smith as well as art on display by Chichester High School students.

• Lisa Hilton, in conversation about her bestselling novel: Maestra and Domina -Tuesday 27 June at 7.30pm (over 18s only)

• Diane Smith Art Exhibition: Facing the music – Tuesday 4 July to Thursday 13 July

• The Royal Navy’s First Invincible (1747-58) by John Bingeman – Tuesday 4 July at 7.30pm

• An Evening with Peter Robinson at Chichester Cathedral – Wednesday 12 July at 6.30pm

• Independent Writer: Be your own PR department – Thursday 13 July at 7.30pm

• Storytelling with Children’s Author Timothy Knapman – Saturday 15 July from 11am to 12 noon
