Residents in Chichester are being invited to test their mettle by walking over hot coals this autumn to raise vital funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. The charity’s Firewalk returns to Chichester High School on Friday 16 October 2026, offering a unique challenge alongside a child-friendly “LEGOwalk” alternative.
The event, which aims to support the hospice’s palliative and end-of-life care services, will take place at the school’s Kingsham Road grounds. Organisers have designed the evening to be inclusive of families, with the traditional firewalk supplemented by a challenge involving thousands of plastic LEGO bricks for younger participants.
Event details and registration
Gates at Chichester High School will open at 5:30pm. The main event begins at 6:30pm with a mandatory motivational session and safety briefing for those taking on the coals.
Registration fees are structured by age and event type:
- Adult Firewalk (16+): £25
- Youth Firewalk (12-15): £20
- LEGOwalk: Designed as a family-friendly alternative to the firewalk.
Participants are encouraged to reach a minimum sponsorship target to help the hospice maintain its services across Chichester and the surrounding areas. St Wilfrid’s Hospice is an independent charity that provides free specialist care to those with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families.
Walking on LEGO
The “LEGOwalk” has been added to ensure the event is accessible to children and those who may not feel ready for the heat of the firewalk. This challenge involves walking barefoot across a path of thousands of LEGO pieces—a task often jokingly cited by parents as more painful than walking on fire.
