Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles. He was 27 years old.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that Gerber was pronounced dead at 9:45 a.m. while an official cause of death is currently pending the results of an autopsy.

Allie Jenkins, a representative for the Gerber family, released a statement requesting privacy for Crawford, Rande Gerber, and their daughter Kaia during what she described as a “very difficult and painful time.”

A Legacy of Advocacy

In the years leading up to his death, Gerber had increasingly pivoted from his career in high fashion toward mental health and addiction advocacy. After making his runway debut for Moschino in 2016 and modeling for major brands including Burberry, Calvin Klein, and Dolce & Gabbana, he began using his platform to discuss the complexities of recovery.

In late 2025, Gerber shared a video on social media discussing his use of prescription medications, such as Xanax and Valium, for panic attacks. His goal, as he often stated, was to destigmatize the medical reality of mental health treatment for those struggling in the public eye.

Family Perspectives on a Long Struggle

The news of Gerber’s death comes just as his sister, Kaia Gerber, touched upon the family’s private battles in the September 2026 issue of Vogue. In the interview, she described her brother’s “decade-long struggle” with addiction.

Gerber used his platform to speak candidly about his journey with anxiety.

Gerber’s history with substance use and legal issues had been public for several years. In 2019, he was arrested for a DUI and subsequently sentenced to three years of probation. However, his recent efforts were focused on maintaining sobriety and supporting others through transparency.

While the medical examiner’s final report is expected to take several weeks, Gerber’s transition from a fashion fixture to a vocal proponent for mental health awareness remains a significant part of his recent public identity. He is survived by his parents and his sister.
