More than 900 young people attended Bristol’s first Youth Guarantee Jobs Fair on 11 September 2026, marking a significant milestone in a new £2.5 billion national strategy to tackle economic inactivity among young people.
The event, which saw 40 of the UK’s largest employers gather in Bristol, resulted in 193 interviews being secured on-site. Participating businesses included major national names such as EDF, Holiday Inn, and GXO.
The fair is the first of its kind under the government’s wider “Youth Guarantee” pledge. As part of this commitment, the government has confirmed plans to deliver at least one Youth Guarantee Jobs Fair in every region across Great Britain.
Skills and Training Workshops
Beyond immediate recruitment, the Bristol event focused on long-term career planning. Google UK & Ireland provided specialised workshops during the fair, offering training on how to use artificial intelligence to enhance CVs and set career goals. These sessions were designed to help young people navigate a changing digital job market.
According to reports following the event, the government is now looking to replicate the Bristol model in other regions. The commitment to regional delivery means similar events are expected to take place across the country in the coming months.
