Musical notes! The sound of money being raised for St Wilfrid’s Hospice is music to Laurence’s ears

Groovers are being urged to bring their dancing shoes and a donation for St Wilfrid’s Hospice at a fund-raising gig to help boost the coffers of the Chichester hospice.

The Sad Old Rockers, said to be a group of older men recapturing their youth, will be rocking and probably rolling, too, when they play on June 10.

Laurence Duffell, who is the lead singer of the Sads, as they’re rather affectionately known, explains that they have been playing locally for nearly 20 years. They play rock covers from The Beatles to The Stones, The Band to The Eagles.

He said: “And if you’re a child of the 60s, the 50s or even the 40s, we will not leave you disappointed. Rock and boogie, loud and proud, the songs are performed in the Sads style and, for the majority of the time, in the right key.

“It’s sure to be a lively evening, and we hope that we can get the collection buckets full, too.”

The entertainment will include a music quiz as well as at the sound of the Sads. There’s a cash bar and food supplied by the Hog Squad, with a vegetarian option available.

Doors open at 6:45pm, starts at 7:30pm. Price: Adults (13yrs +): £15. Children (5 – 12yrs): £10 Under 5yrs: Free (food not included).
