Presenter Alison Hammond has returned home and received a clean bill of health after being rushed from the This Morning studio to a hospital during a live broadcast. On Saturday, October 3, Hammond confirmed that medical examinations of her heart, lungs, and blood returned clear results, following a frightening on-air incident the previous day.

The health scare occurred during the Friday, October 2, edition of the ITV program. While hosting a pet-advice segment alongside co-host Dermot O’Leary and guest Dr. Scott Miller, Hammond appeared visibly distressed. Viewers reported hearing audible heavy breathing and seeing the presenter clutching her chest before O’Leary escorted her off-set. After a commercial break, O’Leary informed the audience that Hammond had become unwell and would not be returning to finish the episode.

Diagnosis and Hospital Update

Following her departure from the studio, Hammond was taken to the hospital for observation. On Friday evening, she shared an update from her hospital bed, telling followers she was having her “ticker checked out” due to experiencing palpitations. While the physical symptoms initially sparked concerns among viewers of a potential cardiac event, Hammond later clarified the nature of the episode.

Upon her release on Saturday morning, the presenter attributed the emergency to a “massive panic attack,” noting that the experience felt “very real” while it was happening. According to reports from the Manchester Evening News, Hammond expressed her gratitude to the NHS staff for their care and to O’Leary for his support during the broadcast.

Recovery and Next Steps

While her medical tests confirmed no underlying physical issues with her heart or lungs, Hammond indicated she will be stepping back from her presenting duties temporarily. She told followers she intends to take some time off to rest and “take stock” of her health before returning to the screen.

The incident has drawn attention to the intensity of live broadcasting and Hammond’s transparency regarding mental health triggers. This Morning has not yet confirmed who will step in to host Hammond’s scheduled slots next week, though the show typically relies on a rotation of regular relief presenters during unplanned absences. For now, the focus remains on her recovery at home following the clear medical results.
