The West Sussex Health and Wellbeing Board is scheduled to meet in Chichester this September to review the progress of the county’s long-term health and social care strategy. The public meeting will take place at County Hall on Thursday, 17 September 2026, starting at 10.30 am.
As a statutory body, the Board is responsible for improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities across West Sussex. The upcoming session follows the first full year of the Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025-2030, which set out a five-year roadmap for local services.
Discussions are expected to focus on five specific priority areas identified in the strategy. These include food and nutrition, school readiness for children, mental health transitions for young people, tobacco control, and the health needs of residents living in temporary accommodation.
NHS Structural Changes
The meeting comes several months after a significant shift in the local NHS landscape. On 1 April 2026, the Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB) transitioned to become the NHS Surrey and Sussex ICB. This broader regional structure now works alongside the Board to coordinate primary care, hospital services, and community health across the county borders.
The Board’s delivery groups, which were established to lead on the strategy’s priority areas, are anticipated to provide updates on their work since the April transition. This includes how local Chichester-based services are being integrated within the new regional framework.

Residents are permitted to attend the meeting in person at County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ. For those unable to visit the venue, the proceedings are typically webcast live via the West Sussex County Council portal, with a recording made available shortly after the conclusion of the session.
The Health and Wellbeing Board includes representatives from West Sussex County Council, local NHS leaders, and Healthwatch West Sussex.
