Performing at a sold-out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the rapper kicked off the London leg of his “JAŸ-Z30” tour, which commemorates the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.
The evening featured a series of major surprise appearances, most notably a partial reunion of The Fugees. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean joined Jay-Z to perform a medley of their classics, including “Ready or Not,” “Killing Me Softly,” and “Fu-Gee-La.” On stage, Jay-Z reflected on his long-standing history with the duo, noting that The Fugees were the first group to take him on a European tour during the early years of his career.
The local rap scene was also represented as Giggs took the stage to perform his signature track “Talkin’ the Hardest.” The performance opened with a live spoken-word introduction from actor Idris Elba, who delivered the intro originally featured on the 2007 album American Gangster.
