Anyone for tennis? Chichester courts serve up aces with £30,000 revamp

Johanna Konta

Andy Murray may be out of Wimbledon with Johanna Konta hanging on in there but tennis players in Chichester are still very much in the game.

That’s because players in the city will have even more reason to pick up their racquets following a £30,000 revamp of council tennis courts at Oaklands Park.

The courts, which are controlled by the Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club on behalf of Chichester District Council, have been resurfaced and colour coated to provide an improved playing surface for playing tennis.

Players can take advantage of special Wimbledon cut price hire charges from Monday 17 July – Sunday 30 July. One hour court hire will cost just £2.50 for juniors and £5 for adults per court.

Councillor Eileen Lintill, Cabinet Member for Community Services says: “Wimbledon is an exciting event for the whole country, so it’s fantastic that fans in Chichester are able to enjoy our brand new refurbished tennis courts.

“We are also offering a special discount in the two weeks following Wimbledon, so whether you’re a beginner or a tennis pro, why not take advantage?”
