Future seasons of the drag competition will move exclusively to World of Wonder’s streaming platform, WOW Presents Plus. The transition is scheduled to begin in 2027, starting with the debut of the first-ever RuPaul’s Drag Race UK All Stars spin-off.
The departure follows a series of budget-related cuts at the corporation, which is currently attempting to secure £500 million in savings over a two-year period. The BBC decision was driven by ‘significant financial pressures’ and a requirement to deliver major savings.
The Transition to WOW Presents Plus
While the move places the show behind a paywall, the shift to a commercial streamer may fundamentally change the show’s format. Since its debut in 2019, the UK version of the show has been famously unable to offer cash prizes due to the strict regulations governing publicly funded broadcasting. Instead, winners were awarded commemorative crowns or the opportunity to film digital content in Hollywood. Moving to a private platform could allow the production to offer the substantial monetary rewards seen in the American and international versions of the franchise.
The upcoming UK All Stars series is currently slated for an Autumn 2027 premiere. This new iteration will bring back popular contestants from the previous eight series to compete for a spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame.”

Series 8, which premiered on September 3, 2026, will serve as the final run of the flagship show on the broadcaster’s digital and linear channels. For viewers concerned about losing access to previous years, existing seasons are expected to remain available on iPlayer for the time being.
The corporation has produced 11 total series within the franchise since its inception, including eight main seasons and three “UK vs The World” specials. Despite the loss of the new content, the existing library of episodes will likely continue to be hosted on the broadcaster’s streaming service for the foreseeable future.
