Middleton Cricket Club has secured a second-place finish in the Sussex Cricket Premier Division following a competitive 2026 campaign.
The Sea Lane outfit finished the season as runners-up to Roffey CC, who claimed their seventh championship title. Despite missing out on the top spot, Middleton remained in contention until the final stages of the summer, at one point trailing the eventual champions by just 10 points in the 16-match season.
The 2026 Sussex Premier Division season, an ECB-accredited league, reached its conclusion on Saturday 5 September. While Roffey’s consistency saw them pull away to secure the trophy, the club demonstrated significant growth, cementing their status as one of the region’s leading teams.
The final day of the season saw Middleton face Cuckfield CC, while Roffey confirmed their title win in their fixture against Preston Nomads. The narrow margin at the top of the Sussex Cricket League table for much of August highlighted the competitive nature of the division this year.
Middleton Cricket Club, based at Sea Lane, Middleton-on-Sea, Bognor Regis (PO22 7RH), remains a central fixture of the Arun district’s sporting landscape. Following the conclusion of the league schedule, the club will now look toward off-season preparations as they aim to go one step further and challenge Roffey’s dominance next summer.
