Companies House identity verification: Three directors fined in first Insolvency Service prosecutions

New identity verification rules for directors are now being enforced by .

Three directors have been fined at City of London Magistrates’ Court in the first prosecutions for failing to comply with Companies House identity verification requirements.

The court hearing took place on Wednesday 16 September 2026.

Jill White, 62, of Speen, Buckinghamshire, and Marc Dillon, 62, of Benson, Oxfordshire, were directors of White (Reading Properties) Limited. Modinat Banjo was the director of J Isogony Apparel Limited.

The prosecutions were brought at City of London Magistrates' Court.

New directors appointed from 18 November 2025 must verify their identity before acting as a director. Jill White completed her identity verification in early September 2026, nine months after the applicable deadline.

The total fine for the trio reportedly amounted to £553.

Deadlines for existing directors

The 12-month transition period for existing directors to verify their identity ends on 17 November 2026.
