It’s just the ticket! Stagecoach bus passengers use the company’s new app to great success

Stagecoach bus passengers are finding the company’s app is just the ticket! They no longer have to fish around in their pockets for the change to buy their tickets — thanks to a new function on an already popular app.

Customers can now benefit from the convenience of using the app to instantly buy and download day tickets to their smartphones with payments via the Stagecoach app made by PayPal, or via debit or credit card.

The system provides another payment option alongside existing smart ticketing and cash payments for customers who make 40.4 million journeys on buses covering 21 million miles operated across the south

The development comes after the app, available free of charge for Apple and Android mobile phones, was introduced last this year offering journey planning and tracking and live bus times for customers across West Sussex and beyond.

“If you’re new to an area you can plan your journey from start to finish,” explains a spokesman. “Just type in your road name and the app will tell you how far away your bus stop is, and which number bus to catch, when to get off etc.

“Whilst at the bus stop or just before you leave the house you can use our live bus times to see exactly when your bus is due. This saves you waiting in the rain, or gives you a few extra minutes to finish that coffee before you leave.”

The launch of the Stagecoach mobile app has proven to be extremely successful and customers are turning to digital method payments. In May this year the company launched contactless payment technology across the 490 buses in the Stagecoach South fleet.

This means that thousands of customers benefit from a fast and secure way of paying for their travel. Boarding times have also been reduced with the introduction of the two digital ways of purchasing bus tickets.
